Frequently asked questions about the gold price in Saudi Arabia
Why is the shop price higher than the price here?
Because the shop adds making charges, stamp fees and VAT on top of the raw gram price. When we have a reliable source we show an estimate of them under "What will you actually pay in the shop?" so you know the fair price before buying.
What is the difference between the sell and the buy price?
The sell price is what jewellers charge for a raw gram of gold; the buy price is what they pay you when you sell, lower by a spread the market sets. We only show a buy price once that spread is approved from a reliable source.
What is the zakat nisab for gold today?
The nisab is 85 g of 24K gold, worth 42,289.20 Saudi riyals today. If your gold reaches the nisab and a lunar year passes, its zakat is 2.5% of its value.
How are these prices calculated?
From the global gold ounce price in US dollars and the reference Saudi riyals exchange rate, plus the local market premium once it is approved from a reliable source. Prices update every minute while the global market trades.
